An extra-time penalty by striker Kevin Phillips was enough to give Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory against Watford in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium on 27 May. In the play-offs, Ian Holloways side - the Eagles beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 on aggregate before beating third-placed Watford with Phillips's spot-kick.

Crystal Palace have been in the Barclays Premier League on four occasions but were relegated after each season, so wish them better luck this time. Their arrival, in place of QPR who were relegated, means that London still has 6 clubs in the Premier League.
